Training program consisting of six modules covering a range of relevant topics and issues. These modules will help parents learn how to advocate for their child’s needs as well as to improve the quality of life for other children and families in Connecticut. Modules focus on a specific topic with related learning objectives, PowerPoint presentations and handouts. Areas covered by the training include: Disability policy and history of the movement; special education; the legislative process; health care and reform; medical home; transition planning; adult services and independence; effective communication skills; and ethics and advocacy.
